Kill one cow, shame on you. Kill a whole herd of cattle, and John Dutton is going to do anything to get his revenge. The longer that Yellowstone is on, the more obvious it becomes that the Yellowstone Ranch is essentially a pasture-raised mafia. In an exclusive clip from episode four, John, Jamie, and Kayce Dutton meet the police after a herd of cattle end up dead in the field, and to put it lightly, John (Kevin Costner) is not pleased.
In an exclusive clip previewing Wednesday’s fourth episode, “Only Devils Left,” the Duttons are at a stand off with the local sheriff’s office after a whole herd of cattle appears to have been killed. The Duttons have done a lot of damage around Montana though, so asking for any favors is a tall order.
With his frustrations hitting a ceiling, John says that he either needs six deputies on the case or for the police to deputize John’s men in the field. That’s not how police academy typically works, but leave it to John Dutton to demand a rule change.
Kayce hasn’t always been the most even-keeled, and according to this week’s episode description, arming Kayce with a gun probably isn’t the best strategy, especially with John saying to find the culprit and “drag him by the hair back to me”:
John Dutton’s (Kevin Costner) enemies strike a direct hit on the Yellowstone. John forms an unlikely alliance. Kayce’s (Luke Grimes) first day as a livestock officer ends in tragedy.
And a quick note that’s beside the point: why is Jamie wearing a suit out in the middle of a pasture? Seems like if you’ve renounced your career to embed yourself in your mob-style ranching family, you should be free to switch into a pair of jeans, you know? Someone get Jamie a pair of Carhartts and take Kayce’s gun away before it’s too late.
