Not to get all “uphill both ways in the snow” on you, but back in my day, if you missed out on a release of the wildly popular Nike x J.Crew Killshot 2, you had to wait eons (read: years) until you got a second chance. Now, things are different. It’s only been a few months since the new green colorway of the sneaker originally hit shelves, and now it’s back—along with the OG navy.
If you’ve been following along with the Killshot 2’s modern history, you already know why this exciting news. But if you’re new to the story, allow me to fill you in. Nike first debuted the low-profile court shoe decades ago, but J.Crew brought it back as an exclusive collaboration in a white/navy colorway in the early 2010s. And since about 2016, it’s been tough to get your hands on a pair of these sneakers.
See, after gaining cult status among a group of guys who appreciated sneakers but weren’t exactly sneakerheads, the Killshot 2 would sell out every time J.Crew restocked it, sometimes within just hours. It still sells like hotcakes, thanks in part to the addition of two new colorways.
One of those colorways drops a bright red swoosh on top of a white canvas, and (surprise, surprise) it’s currently sold out. But the other takes the leather-and-suede construction of the original and simply switches green for navy. That one’s back, for now, along with the style that started it all, which at this point I think we can call a modern classic. If you’re in the market, don’t hesitate. As recent history has showed, these shoes probably won’t stick around for long.
